Lanmeur No. 1 / Lanneur

Listed by Enlart (1902) as a French double-font, octagonal, of Gothic style. The double-font is not symmetrical: the larger (main) font is a regular octagonal basin with a double rim; on the visible side of the basin is a large head (an angel's?); the pedestal base is also octagonal with mouldings in the lower base. The second basin is much smaller and shorter, also octagonal and plain; its base appears square (description based on an illustration in Enlart, 1902). Also in Bond (1908: 61), probably after Enalrt. [BSI on-site notes: our visit to Lanmeur found only a single octagonal granite font or stoup, ca. 14th-15th century, smallish and totally devoid of ornamentation except for a triple moulding motif spaced around the upper rim side; it is raised on a round pedestal base; this font does not match Enlart's description -cf. Index entry for Lanmeur No. 2; the original double-font is no longer found in this church; we did not get any information on its whereabouts during our visit on June 2000]
