Font Notes:
Baptismal font made of black-blue Givet limestone; the round basin is decorated with four protruding human heads; between the the sides are decorated with a shallow arcade; raised on a plain broad cylindrical column and a plain square lower base. The wooden cover is round and flat, with a square opening for access to the basin interior; modern. Noted in Deleam (1955). Collin (1981) mentions the font at Brienne-sur-Aisne as one of the notables in the group of Ardennes fonts related to the Tournai style. Listed in Palissy [ref.: PM08000085]: "fonts baptismaux [...] 12e siècle [...] Pierre noire ou bleue de Givert très dure." [i.e., pierre de Givet, aka "Givetien"]
