The pedestal of the base starts at the top with a flat truncated oval cone, then a basket-like larger part ornamented with tall thin arches and then a narrower oval foot which terminates in a small rectangular plinth. The cover is made of metal (copper) and shaped like a flat shallow dome, over another wider one, and has a brass cross as finial.
