Church Notes: church listed in Mérimée [ref.: IA00130877]: "L'église appartenait en 1116 à la collégiale de Notre-Dame de Vitré, avec laquelle elle passe peu après à l'abbaye Saint-Melaine de Rennes. Elle est reconstruite au tournant des 15e et 16e siècles. En 1634, la chapelle au sud du choeur est reconstruite par le recteur Jean Belin. A partir de 1875, les travaux de l'architecte Audrouin, de Vitré, concernent la tour occidentale qui est achevée en 1899 par l'architecte Gelly : 2 clochetons et sculpture du tympan. En 1910-1911, intervention de l'architecte Arthur Regnault : prolongement de la chapelle nord-est sur l'emplacement de l'ancienne sacristie (faux transept nord), surhaussement de la nef et du mur du chevet, flèche et façade occidentale, tous travaux confiés à l'entrepreneur Brunet."

Shown in Malle as a rounded four-sided basin with two handles as ornamentation; like the font at Chavagne, this one has a coat-of-arms on the front side, its left side held by a unicorn; the left field of the coat-of-arms has a rampant lion facing left. The base, also like that of the font in Chavagne, is a round column at the top which rests on a square lower part; unlkike the former, however, the rest of the base is a rough round shape tapering off to the square plinth; this part appears to be rough-hewn stone while the rest of the font is made of marble. The lid appears metallic and slightly domed and has a finial cross (description based on ill. in Crozet)
