Superb example of the Ille-et-Vilaine granite double-fonts: the octagonal basins are a matching set, one slightly smaller than the other; in this case there is a "coupling" joint between the two basins, beautifully carved with a winged angel holding a coat of arms [Le patrimoine des communes d'Ille-et-Vilaine (2000) identifies the coat of arms as belonging to the sires de Tinténiac, since the parish was part of the 'seigneurie']; the basins have rope mouldings at top and bottom, a motif which appears again at the top and bottom of the shafts which make up the middle of the separate bases; the twin basins are carved with vegetal motifs on the visible sides. The base shafts are also octagonal and decorated with different motifs; they rest on square feet and the whole is raised on a plinth [On-site notes and Malle (1994)]. Denise Robet-Maynial, in her entry in the Dictionnaire des églises.. (1966- ) dates the font to the 14th century, but this is rather unlikely. Also dated 14th-century in Palissy [ref.: PM35000040]: " Fonts baptismaux géminés : double cuve sur pied propre à chacune d'elle. Elles sont réunies par un petit héraut en bas-relief. Les deux cuves sont hexagonales, à double torsade entourant une frise d'arbres. Le pied, hexagonal, est terminé en haut et en bas, par une torsade. [...] Armoiries : armes de Tinténiac. [...] 14e siècle".
