Font Notes:
Decribed and illustrated in Pike (1989: 32, 43-44), as one of three baptismal fonts at St. Colman's, this one being the first medieval font: "Although this broken font is undecorated except for triangular and rectangular lines on the bowl and chamfer outlining triangular and rectangular divisions, it does seem to be Medieval. It is octagonal with a central drain; it is not in use. Its octagonal pedestal and base are similar to the Kilcock grooved pedestal and base." The entry for this church in the National Inventory of Architectural Heritage [https://www.buildingsofireland.ie/buildings-search/building/20826015/saint-colmans-cathedral-church-street-townparks-cloyne-cork] [accessed 26 April 2023] reports an early carved limestone font in it. [cf. Index entries for Cloyne Nos. 1, 3 for the other two fonts in this church]
