Harrison (1920) reports the church originally as Saxon, but the font as Perpendicular. Illustrated in Mee (1937). Whiteman (1998) notes: "The octagonal font, deeply carved on bowl and stem, dates from c.1400". The CRSBI (2008) confirms the "Anglo-Saxon origins" of this church. The font has an octagonal basin with vertical sides, each of the eight framed panels decorated with a quatrefoil window with a rose in the centre; the underbowl is slightly rounded and has floral and (?) motifs on it. The base is octagonal and of two volumes: the stem has vertical sides decorated with alternate motifs of two quatrefoils up-and-down, and a tall trefoil arch on every other side; the lower base is also octagonal and splays out towards the bottom.
