Noted and illustrated in Bond (1908). Harrison (1920) reports a "curious font" of the 12th century in this church. Listed in Tyrrell-Green (1928) as a Norman font the basin of which is decorated with an "arcade in relief, imitating closely the structural arcade of the period". Noted in the Victoria County History (Sussex, vol. 5, pt. 1, 1997): "Binsted church existed in the mid 12th century. [...] The main structure is of the earlier or mid 12th century and three windows of that date remain. [...] The arcaded circular stone font, projecting slightly over its thick, round pedestal [is] 12th-century". The font consists of rather small basin roughly hemispherical in shape, the sides decorated with a blind arcade of pearled round arches resting on double columns and a roll moulding where the underbowl meets the cylindrical stem; the latter has two more such mouldings near the bottom; the rim appears damaged in at least two places [probably through the removal of the staples of the cover]. Described and illustrated in the CRSBI (2008) with suggested date in the late 12th century. Described in Whiteman (1998): "The Norman font is bowl-shaped and ornamented with carved arcading".
