Described in Ruiz Montejo (1992): the upper rim of the basin is rounded; the sides are ornamented with ribs which are tied at the top by round arches and concave and convex mouldings; cylindrical base with round twisted mouldings. Listed in Garma Ramírez (2000). Layna Serrano (2001, c1969) describes it as an interesting medieval baptismal font. Noted and illustrated in the Enciclopedia del románico en Castilla-La Mancha: Guadalajara (2009) as a baptismal font of the 13th century, of a shape and decoration common in this region: roughly hemispherical basin with moulding at the upper rim, broad ribbed pattern below topped with round arch-heads; on a cylindrical base decorated with diagonal piping pattern [NB: the Enciclopedia… uses “decoración de soga” [i.e., rope or cable] to describe the motif on the base, but it is plain, more like piping set on a diagonal]. The Enciclopedia… notes this type of font also at Cereceda, Las Inviernas, El Sotillo and Villaescusa de Palositos.
