Font Notes:
Described and illustrated in Catalunya romànica (1984- . v. XIII: 424) as an "immersion" baptismal font, oblong basin [a prismatic object with rounded corners], obviously a manifestation of the local artisanat ["molt tosca i sense valor artístic [...] una manifestació popular de la Vall d'Aran"]; the font shows three incised Greek Maltese crosses inscribed in circles. Described in Mestre i Godes (1999: 79) as "A baptismal font that, for its dimensions (86 x 47 x 54 cm), appears to be of the immersion type; its ornament consists of three circles with very weathered Greek crosses" [our translation]. The upper rim shows the iron staples from the old cover. Noted in Amiell (2007). The article on this church by Víctor López Lorente y David de la Garma in ARTEGUIAS [https://m.arteguias.com/iglesia/santestevebetren.htm] [accessed 8 May 2025] describes the stoup as above, as well as the baptismal font itself, monolithic and plain: "De época medieval, destaca una pila bautismal sin ninguna decoración, tallada en una pieza monolítica; una basa románica con unos relieves de figuras humanas, que sostiene un fuste sobre el que se ha colocado una pila de agua bendita realizada siguiendo la estética renacentista, con decoración de hojas de acanto".
