Church Notes: There are two other ancient fonts in this church [cf. other entries in Index under heading "Cap d'Aran"]. There are three baptismal fonts and one water stoup in this church, all of them from the Middle Ages. Access to these churches is at present [1998-1999] erratic, usually difficult if not impossible outside the reduced hours of service, partly because the few clergy are stretched over several parishes, but also because some of them [there are notable exceptions to whom BAPTISTERIA SACRA is most grateful] do not favour the opening of these churches to visitors, nor are some of the key-holders [ditto re exceptions] any better inclined.
On-site notes: a totally plain cylindrical basin has had the lower part cut away in chamfer-like fashion; the whole appears to have been either re-cut or sandblasted, although it is quite possible that it is simply a case of a thorough clean-up job, because there are other such fonts in the area [cf. Index entry for Gessa, for example]; the base is a plain column-like cylinder of a darker hue, not cleaned, and may very well be the original which matched the colour of the basin before its "revival". Described in Catalunya romànica (1984- , v. XIII: 391): difficult to tell whether or not it is a genuine Romanesque piece and, without a single ornamental detail on it. No cover present but the upper rim of the basin retains two metal staples, one of which has split the stone nearby.
