One of the Vall d'Aran's early "immersion" fonts, some of which are called "oil fonts" for their use as containers for the lighting/heating [tithe/offering?] oil for the church. Ornamented with a Latin cross, a small letter "m" and some hemispheric motifs (Mestre i Godes, 1999). Described and illustrated in Catalunya romànica (1984- ), where a dating to the end of the 12th or beginning of the 13th century is suggested. This same source mentions also the possibility that it might actually be a sarcophagus. Noted in Amiell (2007) [cf. Index entries for Vielha, Unha and Cap d'Aran for others of the same type] [NB: there are many such objects in this valley, some identified as sarcofagi, some as "immersion" fonts; it is difficult to describe these small objects as "immersion" fonts and it is not clear whether or not they are even baptismal fonts, especially considering that many are dated as contemporary of the chalice-shaped fonts in the same churches].
