Noted and illustrated in Die Bau- und Kunsdenk[...] Oldenburg (1896-1909). Listed in Ligtenberg (1915). In Carlsson (1976). In "Der romanische Taufstein der Pfarrkirche zu Neuenkirchen", Enciclopedia dell'arte medievale (1991-1998). Classed in Drake (2002) as a font of the Bentheim School, group 7, with cognate font at Suurhusen. Baptismal font consisting of a slightly taperin round basin decorated with three parallel mouldings that separate a vine with some geometric elements, a band of angular interlace and another vine; raised on a round-to-square pedestal base with four couchant-regardant lions set at 90-degree angles of the broad central shaft; on a modern two-step plinth. Metal font cover, round, with raised central part; overlaps the upper rim of the basin.
