Directions to Site: Located off the D751, about 10 km NW of Saumur, now in the commune of Chênehutte-Trèves-Cunault, on the banks of the Loire river [the church of Trèves is in the centre of the cemetery]
Font Notes:
Illustrated in Mallet (1984: 90, 185): chalice-shaped font standing to the left of the entrance [as you enter]. The basin is cylindrical with several mouldings, one of them appears to be with ball motif or similar; the underbowl, also rounded, is quite high, perhaps an indication of a later date. The cylindrical base is plain; there is a square lower base similar to the one in the other font, which could be of the "draining" type. This font is not mentioned in Lasteyrie or Herbécourt [cf. Index entry for Trèves no.1 for a former font now serving as stoup on the opposite side of the nave]
