The baptismal font at the cathedral of Jaca -as opposed to the ones housed at the Museo in its cloister- is of mixed stone; the basin is a hexagonal volume with the corners trimmed off, ending up with twelve sides, the trimmed ones about a third compared with the others; the material appears to be a dark brown marble and it is ornamented on the sides with floral motifs and arches, and at the underbowl with leaf-like motif. The pedestal base is also hexagonal with a large central ring decorated with foliage motifs; it is made of a lighter, greyish limestone (?). The font cover, now in dire need of cleaning, is also hexagonal and rather Baroque; it is ornamented with a scene on each panel and the top is of a Jacobean style. [NB: at the time of our visit, 17 June 1999, it was located to the right of the main entrance, in a very dark and dusty area, practically invisible unless one looks for it -- the font has been moved, and is now [April 2010] in one of the chapels, right in front of its altar].
