Church Notes: Quintanasolmo [or Quintanas Olmo...] was built in the 13th century, originally a base for Benedictine monks from Cluny who were later replaced by Augustinian monks. The village was de-populated in the 1980s and the font moved to Elines for protection. [NB: recovery of the village reported ca. 2000, but the church still semi-abandoned and in ruinous state]

Illustrated in Calderón Escalada (1971: p. between 40-41). On-site notes: one of several fonts gathered in the cloister of San Martín de Elines from abandoned villages of the area. This one, known to have been originally at Quintanasolmo, is a largish round basin in red sandstone; the sides are ornamented with a blind arcade (or shallow ribbing) and has a thin strip of rope motif near the upper rim. The base on which it now stands was probably not a part of this font at all. The earlier source [cf. supra] showed it mounted on a cylindrical pedestal adorned with two roll mouldings, raised on a circular plinth.
