Noted and illustrated in Santamaria (1988) as a Romanesque font decorated with large ribs. On-site notes: the basin is massive, decorated with a delicate acanthus vine around the upper basin side, below which thick and somewhat irregular ribs -some badly damaged- surround the rest of the basin and underbowl; raised on a squat cylindrical base that appears to have some foliage motifs carved on it, though much is covered by cement; the floor around the font base is new and may hide part of the base support; an old metal rim encircles the rim of the bowl; it is incised with a zig-zag motif and has the sort of staple to which old lids would be secured; a wooden lid, round, flat, plain and probably modern is currently on it. This font is similar, but not identical, to the fonts at nearby Caballar and La Cuesta, likely from the same artisan or workshop. [NB: cf. Index entry for Turegano No. 2 for the font at the nearby church of San Miguel, inside the castle.
