Font noted and illustrated in De Champeaux (1972). Described and illustrated in Catalunya romànica (1984- , vol. XIX: 511, 527): hemispherical baptismal font ornamented with a band of double zig-zag on the upper basin side; the upper rim has suffered damage all around; mounted on a plain cylindrical pedestal. Illustrated in Chameaux (1972: pl. 70), who offers this font as a perfect example of a reduction to a pure symbol: the hemisphere, 'like a primaeval ocean' [="comme l'océan primordial"], and the double zig-zag incision, 'a rim symbolising the waters' =["une bordure symbolisant les eaux"] (ibid.: p. 233). This symbolism of the water on this font is also referred to in Guerra (1986 c1978: 193).. Buron (1980: 88) dates the church to 10th-11th centuries [Buron cites Zodiaque's Catalogne romane, vol. 1 as source], whereas Catalunya romànica (ibid.) avoids the dating of this piece. Listed with measurements in Cruañes-Virella (1984). [NB: the font appears in the Catalunya rom... illustration [ca. 1992?] being used as a flower pot]
