Baptismal font illustrated in Gómez-Moreno (1983, vol. 2: fig. 353), where it is dated "1523-1534". On-site notes: magnificent baptismal font of the Renaissance period, the work of Juan de Badajoz (1495?-1955) [aka Juan de Badajoz el Mozo]. Looking like an oversized cinerary urn, the font has a large bowl and a squat base, the latter made up of a large scotia over a wider torus. The basin has scenes and figures over a background of scallop/fish scale pattern. The lid resembles those found in cinerary urns as well. The interior of the bowl is lined with lead.
