Described in Carbonell i Esteller ([s.d.]: 67) and Buron (1980: 261): baptismal font of typical Romanesque ornamentation ["In situ es conserva una pila baptismal amb típica decoració romànica"]. Mestre i Godes and Adell (1999) mention the large diameter of the bowl (125 cm), the vegetal motifs on the sides of the basin. Described and illustrated in Catalunya romànica (1984- , vol. XV: 156), where it is compared to the font at Sant Feliu, in Vilac, Val d'Aran, and dated to the 12th century. Cabestany, Matas & Palau (2005) suggest attribution to a local rural workshop of the late 12th or early 13th century. The font consists of a wide roughly hemispherical basin decorated on the upper surface of the rim with a running scroll; there remain two metal staples from an old cover, and there is damage to one side of the rim to indicate there may have been more hardware attached at that spot; the basin sides have a narrow band that includes at least one bird and more of the running scroll motif [NB: there may be other animal motifs around the bask of the font]; there is a roll moulding below this band, and the underbowl is covered in foliage motifs; the upper part of the pedestal base resembles a capital and has at least one human head; the stem is round and plain. The lower base appears to be of later date.
