Church Notes: Romanesque church; lost its tower in 1946; church restored 1991
Illustrated in Santamaria (1988). Listed as "reseñable" [=noteworthy] without further details in Garma Ramirez (1998). The font is chalice-shaped; the large basin has a wide band of zig-zag motif with concentric roundels in the angle spaces; lower down there are very broad ribs with narrower arris-like ones in between, at the top of which are small head carvings; the inside of the basin is carved with very broad concabe ribs; the basin is almost cylindrical in shape and ends on a broad rope motif. The lower base is round but appears polygonal due to the vertical rectangular "faces" (twelve?), each of which has one or several symbols carved within: rosettes, flowers, branches, crosses, stars, etc. On the upper surface of the basin are two metal loops, evidence of a now disappeared cover. A published article entitled "A la busca del tesoro" written by Encarnación G. Valladares [source unknown, but probably local and ca. 1960] describes the "rescue" of this font by a local team consisting of the local teacher, Francisco Corrales, and five youngsters between 7 and 9 years old: Jesús Arranz, Mariano Arranz, Antonio Arranz, Javier Lázaro and Mariano Velázquez. According to this source the font was "catalogued" by the said teacher and the cataloguing corroborated by "Sr. Azcárate" and the Marquis of Lozoya. There are two stone holy-water stoups by the main entranceway.
