Church Notes: church dated 1584 but some locals believe it was built on the site of an earlier, Romanesque church, probably on the strength of some fragments and the font found here
Described in Garcia Guinea (1979): the basin has large ribs resembling an arcade, with half-ball motif at the bottom; it has a cylindrical base and is raised on a square plinth. If GG's dating is right the font must have belonged to an earlier church here. Oscar M. Ruiz Pérez, in Cantabria Románica [www.cantabriaromanica.com] notes: "magnífica pila bautismal de la Iglesia de Cubillo de Ebro, del siglo XII, lo único románico que le queda a esta Iglesia".
