Additional Comments: moved font (present location at the E end not the original) -- there is rural chapel of ease, the Ermita de Santa María de Entrepuerta, just outside the village, to the south, which probably dates to the 13thC and may have been built on the site or nearby an early necropolis and rock church
Font Notes:
Noted in Garcia Guinea (1979): the basin is adorned with large ribs resembling an arcade; cylindrical base and plinth with torus. Baptismal font of stone consisting a a roughly hemispherical basin raised on a cylindrical pedestal base and a quadrangular lower base; the term 'rough' can well be applied to the whole font, as it is unbalanced in its proportions; the design of the ribbed pattern, concave ribbing with inserts in the bottom of the flutes is a later pattern and its combination with the upper rim shape points to a later paeriod than the 13th-century date of the church; was it done locally in the 16th century? Was it re-carved? No cover present but the upper rom has evidence of anchorings for an old cover.
