Font Notes:
Illustrated in Calderón Escalada (1971). Described and illustrated in Garcia Guinea (1979) and (1996). Bilbao (1996) suggests this font may be from the same workshop as the font at Crespos (Burgos prov.), and the fonts at Quintanilla de An, Revelillas, Ruijas and Espinosa de Bricia (Santander prov.). Noted in Huerta Huerta (Enciclopedia del Romanico en Castilla y Leon) as a group of cognate fonts at: "Lomas de Villamediana, Villamediana de Lomas, Linares de Bricia, Crespos, Quintanilla-Colina y Brullés, [...] Villaescusa de Ebro [now in] San Martín de Elines), Quin[t]anilla de An, Revelillas, Ruijas, Espinosa de Bricia, Repudio y Salcedo." On-site notes: the nicest of several fonts which now stand in the cloister at San Martín de Elines; the basin has three bands of rope motif, the first at the rim; between these narrow bands there are wider bands of saw-tooth motif. The short cylindrical base is probably not the original one of this font.
