Described in Bilbao (1996) and García Guinea (1998) as a Romanesque font. Noted in Martín Jiménez (2008). Baptismal font consisting of a cauldron-shaped basin ornamented with a band of beaded-tape braid which contains balls and flowers in its central spaces;there is no stem; the round-to-square base has a thick moulding atop, and foliage motifs at the angles. On-site notes: the font appears raised on a plinth, also square; there is no cover present, and there are no iron staples visible in the upper rim. Like in the church itself, some traces of Romanesque characteristics remain on he font, but the latter is probably of the same period as the earlier parts of the Gothic building, the 13th century, although Arteguias [http://www.arteguias.com/monumentos/traspenadelapena.htm] [accessed 1 February 2018] mentions that the Gothic church had probably been built on the site of an earlier smaller Romanesque church [="Levantada probablemente sobre un modesto templo románico anterior"].
