Described in Bilbao (1996) and in García Guinea (1998): baptismal font of the Romanesque period; the basin has a crude Christ on the cross carved in a square low-relief on the basin side. The stem of the base is cylindrical. On-site notes: the carving of the Crucifixion scene may be a later addition, not necessarily contemporary with the bowl; iron staples of the old cover still obvious in the upper rim of the basin. Noted in Martín Jiménez (2008). [NB: if the original font is Romanesque, as claimed in Bilbao anf GG [cf. supra] it could perhaps be the font of the original parsih church of Quintanahernando, which, as the Enciclopedia del Romanico entry [https://www.romanicodigital.com/sites/default/files/pdfs/files/palencia_SALINAS_DE_PISUERGA.pdf] [accessed 10 January 2025] notes, was the parish church of that village -- otherwise the font could very well be contemporary with the church of San Pelayo, 16th-century]
