Described in Martín González (1977-). Described and illustrated in Bilbao (1996.), in García Guinea (1998) and in Hernando Garrigo (1993); the latter describes it as late-Romanesque ["tardorrománica"]; he also informs that the font was located earlier at the northwest end of the nave, with its base buried in the ground, hence the damage apparent in that area; he describes this font as a work of a local workshop, traces of which can be found in other churches of the area (ibid.). García Guinea (1998) dates it to the late 12th century. The Enciclopedia del románico en Castilla y León (2002-) reports en erroneous dating to the 16th century assigned to this font in the 'Inventario artístico de Palencia y su provincia', and correct it to the end of the late 12th or early 13th century; the same entry suggests that the style of the workmanship and the iconographic program appears to indicate its belonging to a workshop that may have produced the font at Payo de Ojeda and others in this area. On-site notes: large bucket-shaped basin mounted on two short circular lower volumes; a loose braid of beaded-tape adorns the upper basin side, just below the rim, while a rope motif runs around the lower basin side; in between, on the basin sides there are: 1) a fight scene between two hairy and winged monsters; 2) an armed warrior fights a large dragon that sinks its teeth into the shield; to the side are the warrior's horse and a protecting angel; 3) three tonsured hieratic figures. The lower base has several monstrous heads whose bodies end in vegetation. [cf. Index entry for Payo de Ojeda, Rebanal de las Llantas for related fonts]. Described in Martín Jiménez (2008).
