Bustillo de Santullan / Bustillo de Santullán

Described and illustrated in the Enciclopedia del románico en Castilla y León [https://www.romanicodigital.com/sites/default/files/pdfs/files/palencia_BUSTILLO_DE_SANTULLÁN.pdf] [accessed 19 February 2025]: "A los pies del edificio, junto a la escalera de acceso a un coro alto, se sitúa la pila bautismal, de sección cuadrangular con semicolumnillas angulares rematadas en capiteles lisos de rudos caulículos superiores. Su peculiar forma de brocal recuerda algunas fuentes claustrales como la del monasterio de Santa María la Real de Aguilar de Campoo". The baptismal font is quadrangular, the only ornamentation being half-colonnettes carved in the angles; the inner basin well is round. The basin upper sides show evidence of damage, chiefly in the rim area, some resulting obviously from the removal of the iron staples of the cover; there is damage also to the sides, one of the angle colonnettes having lost its upper part [NB: between the photograph in García Guinea [ca2000 and the one in the Enciclopedia... [ca. 2002?] the font appears to have been rotated, the broken colonnette no longer appearing on the right-side angle]. Noted in Martín Jiménez (2008).
