Described in Bilbao (1996: 299) as a baptismal font of the Romanesque period; the ribbed basin has multiple rim levels. The base is round and plain. The entry for this village in Emiliano Nebreda Perdiguero [www.archiburgos.es/wp-content/uploads/amo-a-mi-pueblo.pdf] [accessed 17 May 2021] notes: "San Martín, obispo, es el titular de su iglesia, románico-gótica, de tres naves [...] Tiene dos ábsides románicos, de finales del siglo XII [...] La portada es románica, de arco de medio punto que ha perdido dos fustes, pero conserva cuatro capiteles con adornos vegetales [...] La pila es románica, de vaso, con gallones divididos en dos cuerpos y base circular." Noted and illustrated in the Enciclopedia del románico [www.romanicodigital.com/sites/default/files/pdfs/files/burgos_VILLAUTE.pdf] [accessed 17 May 2021]: "A los pies de la nave norte está el coro de madera, y en la sur una pequeña capilla con la pila, cuya factura pudiera coincidir –sin asegurarlo– con la época de construcción de una utra parte del templo, especialmente con el lado donde ella misma se halla ubicada. Tiene una altura de 75 cm y un diámetro de 110 cm y su vaso hemisférico se decora alexterior con una ancha cenefa gallonada bajo la que se disponen otra serie de gajos, apeando sobre un corto basamento circular con toro y escocia."
