Described in Bilbao (1996) as a baptismal font of the Romanesque period. Noted and illustrated in Valle Barreda (2009), who gives the numer of arches in the arcade as seventeen, and suggests similarities with the Romanesque font at La Ventosilla, near Gumiel de Mercado. On-site notes: the hemispherical baisn is ornamented with a blind arcade of round arches; raised on a plain pedestal base; only the top of the plinth is visible now in the raised flooring; a metal reinforcement belt encircles now the upper rim of the bowl; the metal hinges of the old cover are still evident in the rim [NB: the font is described as 16th-century in the town's web site].
