Scene Description: there is a possibility that the heads are part of whole figures, as the carving on the right side here suggests: it looks like a body wearing a long garment towards the right

Described and partially illustrated in Bilbao (1996) as a baptismal font of the Romanesque period; the basin is ornamented with four large Latin fleurdelisée crosses that have encircled rosettes in the four arms; the crosses are loacted at 90-degree angles of the basin; the octagonal base has remains of four carved heads. No entry found for this village in the Enciclopedia del románico [www.romanicodigital.com]. The entry for this village in Emiliano Nebreda Perdiguero [www.archiburgos.es/wp-content/uploads/amo-a-mi-pueblo.pdf] [accessed December 2022] notes: "Su iglesia, dedicada a san Vicente, mártir, es renacentista [...] La pila es románica con borde moldurado, cruz en relieve y base poligonal con cabezas". On-site notes: the basin is roughly hemispherical [NB: Bilbao's illustration shows a cylindrical basin but it is the result of the photograph having been trimmed to fit it in the page]; the large fleurdelisée/tréflée) cross carved on the basin is not Romanesque, which would account for the Enciclopedia not including the font; given the shape of the font it is unlikely that it was a later re-carving, therefore the font should be dated to a later period; also of note are the additional carvings on the base sides, as they appear to be human bodies horizaontally laid and attached to the eroded heads [cf. ImagesArea].
