The entry for this church in the Gemeinde Alpen [https://www.alpen.de/de/sehenswuerdigkeiten/katholische-kirche-menzelen-ost/] [accessed 5 January 2023] reports a baptismal font made of Namur blue stone ca. 1250, decorated with four heads and warriors on the sides: "Besonders sehenswert ist der Taufstein aus Namurer Blaustein von etwa 1250 mit 4 Eckköpfen und kämpfenden Kriegern." Described in Drake (2002) as a baptismal font of the Mosan group (round bowl--multisupport): "Menzelen has a complicated foliage design one face, beats on two others and on the last 'miles pugnantes'; two men, not in armour, confront each other, round bucklersin their left handsand drwn swords in their right"; there are "human faces carved on the broad-leaf motifs." The basin of this heavily reconstructed font appears to be the only original part: it is round and has four heads at 90-degree angles at the upper rim; between the heads, on at least one of the basin sides, a lion passant; under the heads, a motif: a human face, foliage [cf. Drake's description supra]. The new base, which may well be similar to the original one, consists of a broad central column and four non-constructional colonnettes, all plain. The font cover is also modern, with a short pyramid and a pine-cone finial.
