The entry for this village in Emiliano Nebreda Perdiguero [www.archiburgos.es/wp-content/uploads/amo-a-mi-pueblo.pdf] [accessed 6 September 2021] notes: "Su iglesia, dedicada a San Pedro, apóstol, es renacentista [...] la portada es renacentista [...] La pila es avenerada, sencilla". Described and illustrated in the Enciclopedia del Románico en Castilla y León (2002- ) [www.romanicodigital.com/sites/default/files/pdfs/files/burgos_BARBADILLO_DEL_MERCADO.pdf] [accessed 6 September 2021]: "pila bautismal, situada a los pies de templo, la única pieza de todo el templo que puede considerarse dentro de un estilo románico, aunque posiblemente bastante tardío. Es una tosca pila de piedra arenisca que se asienta sobre amplio podio circular, contando con una basa cilíndrica, corta y lisa, sobre la que se
alza la copa decorada con gallones. Sus dimensiones son 109 cm de diámetro y 98 cm de altura." Noted and illustrated in Valle Barreda (2005). [NB: there is a Visigothic chapel-of-ease dedicated to St John the Baptist nearby, as well as a Renaissance church formerly of the Dominican monastery, but we have no information of any fonts in them].
