Baptismal font listed and illustrated in López de Guereñu [https://photo.araba.eus/s/photoaraba/item/65992] [accessed 10 August 2024]: "Pila bautismal de la iglesia de San Andrés [...] pieza de estilo gótico fechable en el siglo XIII. Presenta pie de núcleo circular con semicolumnas adosadas; la copa está decorada a base de columnas lanceoladas y figuras arboriformes". Described and illustrated in Bilbao (1994) as a Gothic baptismal font of the 13th century consisting of a basin ornamented with foliage and tree-shaped figures, and a base formed by a broad central column with constructional shafts. Bilbao (ibid.) shows an illustration of the font at Argote with somewhat similar foliage motifs, although the latter has more sophisticated motifs and human heads as well. The same author lists and illustrates this font among the baptismal fonts of the Castillian Romanesque of Burgos (1996: 270 and fig. 15). [NB: Añastro is in the province of Burgos, very close to its border with Alava]. Bilbao (1994: 109) cites entries for this font in the Catálogo Monumental de la Diócesis de Vitoria, in López de Guereñu and in Portilla. The entry for this village in Emiliano Nebreda Perdiguero [www.archiburgos.es/wp-content/uploads/amo-a-mi-pueblo.pdf] [accessed 13 February 2021] notes: "La iglesia parroquial está dedicada a San Andrés [...] la portada es gótica florida [...] la pila bautismal, buena, es gótica, con llamativa decoración de flores de lis".
