Listed in Bueno Flores (1990: 148) as a baptismal font brought to Cáceres from Estremoz, Portugal [NB: this author simply states that the font "se trajo, en 1552, de Estremoz (Portugal)"]. Described and illustrated in García Mogollo (1993: p. ?? with ill.): large font (?) in Estremoz marble, carved by the Portuguese master Pedro Gomez in 1552. It is a rectangular bowl, one side of which appears to be embedded in the wall, supported on the opposite side by two tall columns of dark marble; the bowl sides are carved in intricate vegetable motifs, with a hint of 'mudéjar' flavour. This "font" is defined however as a "stoup" in Andrés Ordax (1995: 157 and ill. on p. 158), as part of a pair in the Concatedral.
