There is a multiple-place entry for Langton [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [https://opendomesday.org/place/SE7967/langton/] [accessed 26 January 2020]; it reports two priests and two churches in it. Cox & Harvey (1907: 229) list the font here as a noteworthy example of Early-English baptismal font. The entry for this church in Historic England [Listing NGR: SE7966467065] notes: "Church. 1822 re-using some medieval fabric. [...] C13 rectangular font with blind trefoil panelling and some nailhead." The quadrangular basin is decorated with a blind arcade of three round arches on each side; the arches have simple capitals and bases, and there are three lines of nail-head apptern draming the panels; the underbowl is square-to-round leading to a a short cylindical stem with a roll noulding atop; the lower base is round-to-square and has also a roll moulding atop. The font cover is simple, round and plain, modern.
