No entry for this Manton found in the Domesday survey. Cox & Harvey (1907) list a baptismal font of the Norman period here. Described in Tyrrell-Green (1928) as a baptismal font from the Norman period; it consists of a round basin ornamented with a blind arcade mounted on a central support and four outer colonnettes. The Victoria County History (Rutland, vol. 2, 1935) notes: "The advowson of Manton appears to have been held by the Crown during the 12th century. Queen Eleanor presented to the church in 1223. [...] The earliest church on the site was probably a 12th-century aisleless building with small square-ended chancel [...] The early 13th-century font has a circular bowl with simple round arched arcading, standing on five later octagonal shafts."
