There are five entries for [Old] Somerby in the Domesday survey [https://opendomesday.org/place/SK9533/old-somerby/] [accessed 3 August 2021], one of which in the land of Walter of Aincourt, reports "1 church. 1.0 church lands" in it. Described in Trollope (1876a): "The font is a good one of the fourteenth century, of an octangular tub-form, each face being enriched by traceried panels." Listed in Cox & Harvey (1907) as a baptismal font of the Decorated period. Noted in Pevsner, Harris and Antram (1989): "Font. Late C14, octagonal, with tracery panels." The entry for this church in Historic England [Listing NGR: SK9648333962] notes: "Parish Church; C12, C13, C14, C15 with C18 and 1876 alterations and additions Late C 14 octagonal font with traceried designs to 6 panels."
