No individual entry found for Prestwich in the Domesday survey. The entry for the Prestwich with Oldham township in the Victoria County History (Lancaster, vol. 5, 1911) notes: "The main body of the church belongs to the 16th century, and the tower to the 15th, while the whole of the east end, including the chapels at the end of the aisles, is modern. [...] The fittings, including the font and pulpit, are all modern. Cox & Harvey (1907) list a baptismal font of the Perpendicular period here, of which we have no other information.
