Kelly's Directory of 1891 reports a Norman font in this church, "which has a plain and massive bowl". Listed in Cox & Harvey (1907) as a baptismal font of the Norman period. The font is now [2008] a composite arrangement with the old Norman basin probably re-cut at the underbowl and raised on a modern base of clustered columns, and a two step circular plinth [NB: it is unclear whether the carved pattern on the underbowl was part of the original decoration or a later addition when the font was re-mounted, though most likely the latter in view of Kelly's description [cf. supra]]
