There are four entries for this Winwick [variant spellings] in the Domesday survey [http://domesdaymap.co.uk/place/TL1080/winwick/] [accessed 16 July 2014], but neither of them mentions a church or cleric in it. A font here is listed in Cox & Harvey (1907) as a baptismal font of the Early English period. Pevsner & Cherry (1973), however, describe thus the font in this church: "1821 by Rickman [I.e., Thomas Rickman (1776-1841), architect][…]. Panelled stem widening towards the bowl. Angel heads against the underside of the bowl. Octagonal bowl with shields and quatrefoils." [NB: the present font in this church is modern; were Cox & Harvey wrong in their identification? -- no additional entry made in this Index for Rickman's font on account of its late date]
