Listed in Cox & Harvey (1907) as a baptismal font of the Norman period. Noted in Pevsner (1978): "Font. Plain Norman." The font is tub-shaped, almost cylindrical, decorated with a band of scallop motif around the upper basin side and a rope moulding towards the bottom of the basin; the flat wooden cover is moder; the font is raised on a round plinth. A recent illustration of the font can be found at the Parish web site [www.crichstmarys.org.uk]. The entry for this church in the CRSBI [https://www.crsbi.ac.uk/view-item?i=7851] [accessed 2 April 2025] notes: "Font The font is situated at the W end of the S aisle. A row of triangular elements and a roll moulding decorate the top of the basin, whilst the bottom is carved with a cable moulding."
