Noted in Cox & Harvey (1907): though a Norman font, it is stamped with the date 1662, which implies the date when it was brought back into the church after its ejection by the Puritans. Pevsner (1978) writes: "Font. Rather puzzling. The foot is dated 1662; the top is of different stone and with an unsusual motif of low arches. Is it really Norman, as Cox says?"
