Listed in Cox & Harvey (1907) as a baptismal font of the Early English period. Cox (1913) notes two fonts: "Modern font. Old font, c. 1200, which had been built into tower, now stands at the entrance." Noted in Pevsner (1967) notes: "Font. High octagonal bowl with intersecting arches on thin colonnettes. Dated 1634, but probably medieval." [NB: it not unknown for fonts that were restored to the church after the Reformation to bear the date of the year when they were re-installed in the church -- perhaps this is one such case -- the font at present [April 2009] in the church is a modern replacement -- we have no current information on the old font noted in Cox above]
