Noted in Lysons (1806-1833) as one of a group of remarkable fonts in this county. Listed in Cox & Harvey (1907) as a baptismal font of the Norman period. Cox (1912) notes: "Late Norm[an] circular font has good band of foliage round bowl." Described in Tyrrell-Green (1928) as a baptismal font of the early period with scroll-work motif, "the only adornment of a plain round bowl" [NB: T-G gives the county as Devon - it is in Cornwall]. Noted in Pevsner (1970): "Font. Norman, circular, with a simple undulating leaf friezealong the top of the bowl." The wooden font cover is octagonal, with a ball finial; appears modern, perhaps 19th-century.
