Ellis (1902) notes: "Opposite the south door of this church is a whitewashed octagonal font, which mat date from almost any period since the thirteenth century. It stands on a circular plinth, and beyond a roll moulding at the base of the bowl and at the contracted portion of the shaft, it is devoid of ornament. It is lead-lined and has a drain." Listed in Cox & Harvey (1907) as a baptismal font of the Perpendicular period. Richards (1973) notes: "The font at Shotwick conforms to the fairly common octagonal design." A photograph in Richards (ibid.) illustrates the font in the context of the church interior.
