There are four entries for Isleham [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://opendomesday.org/place/TL6474/isleham/] [accessed 20 July 2016], none of which mentions cleric or church in it. The Lysons (1806-1833) note this as one in a group of fonts "in the later Gothic style, being octagonal, and richly ornamented with tracery" [the fonts mentioned by Lysons in this group are: Dullingham, Iselham [i.e., Isleham], Tydd St. Giles and Leverington]. Cox & Harvey (1907) include the noteworthy baptismal font at Isleham among the best Perpendicular fonts in the county. The entry for this church in English Heritage [isting NGR: TL6437274409] (1959) reports: "The font is C13 and of clunch. Octagonal, with each side, the soffit and stem carved." The Victoria County HIstory (Cambridge…, vol. 10, 2002) notes: "Isleham was held by rectors, assisted by c. 1220 by vicars, until the mid 13th century. […] Although there are traces of an older church in the masonry at the junction of the chancel and north chapel and a possibly 13th-century shafted lancet survives in the vestry west wall, the fabric is mainly of the early 14th and late 15th centuries. […] he 15th-century font is octagonal on a carved stem." The 15th-century is octagonal on a carved stem." In Pevsner (1970): "Font. Octagonal, Perp[endicular], with traceried stem and quatrefoils on the bowl."
