No individual entry for Chettisham fonund in the Domesday survey. Listed in Cox & Harvey (1907) as a baptismal font of the Decorated period, a noteworthy example. The Victoria County History (Cambridge and the Isle of Ely, vol. 4, 2002) notes: "The fabric [of the church] is of late 12th-century date, but was drastically restored in the 19th century [...] The font is of 15th-century date and cup-shaped, with an octagonal bowl having quatrefoils enclosing blank shields on each side". The VCH shows a plan of the church interior with the font located in the centre of the nave, towards the west. Described and illustrated in the Cambridge Churches site: "[the font] is Perpendicular, with an octagonal bowl carved with quatrefoils and shields on the faces. It sits very low because part of the stem has been lost: below the bowl is a break, and the remains of blind arcading on the piece of stem remaining suggest that there was significantly more at one point.
