Illustrated in a June 1838 drawing by Henry E.L. Dryden, now in the Sir Henry Dryden Collection, in Northamptonshire. Listed in Cox & Harvey (1907) as a baptismal font of the Decorated period. The Victoria County History (Bedford, vol. 3, 1912) notes: "The font, which is in the south aisle, has a modern octagonal bowl resting on a 14th-century octagonal shaft and having small engaged columns at the angles and ball flowers and rosettes on the base." Noted in Pevsner (1968): "Font. Dec. Base with a little ballflower and fleuron decoration." The present font consists of an octagonal basin of the 19th century, an octagonal base with eight attached outer colonnettes, the lower base moulded and decorated with alternating ball flowers and rosettes, and a modern wooden cover of 1936.
