There is an entry for Harrold [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://opendomesday.org/place/SP9456/harrold/] [accessed 11 September 2015], but it mentions neither cleric nor church in it. Cox & Harvey (1907) list a baptismal font of the Early English period in this church. The Victoria County History (Bedford, vol. 3, 1912) notes: "The church of St. Peter, Harrold, formed part of the original endowment of the priory c. 1140–50, [...] and was retained by the prioress until 1536. [...] The oldest details are those of the north arcade, which belong to the early part of the 13th century [...] The font is at the west end of the nave and consists of a circular bowl on four shafts with 13th-century moulded capitals; the bases have disappeared."
